What are Headaches?

Headaches can be symptoms of pains anywhere in the head or neck.

They can be tension-type, migraine, or cluster in nature, and while the cause of some headaches can be serious, usually, and thankfully, most are not.

Having said that, headaches can affect concentration, energy levels, and your general activities of daily living. They are common, but definitely not normal.

How can Chiropractic Help with Headaches?

Cervicogenic headaches commonly arise from restriction and dysfunction within the joints in the neck and surrounding muscles, which then affects the nerve supply to the head and neck.
At the clinic, we see this type very frequently. One of the common referral patterns is for the symptoms to start at the base of the skull, then travel up to the back of the head and into the temples and around the eyes.

Quite often, many people will come to us as a last resort, having found no success in treating them elsewhere and often reliant on taking frequent medication to bring relief.
After an in-depth consultation process, examination tests and diagnosis, Chiropractic adjustments can be highly effective in reducing pain and improving the range of motion.
We also provide stretches, rehabilitative exercises, ergonomic advice which all help to reduce the frequency and severity of headaches, and in many cervicogenic cases, eliminate them altogether, quickly.
