What to Expect

Chris Ross Chiropractic

The First Visit

Your first visit will begin with an initial consultation with Dr Chris.
You will be asked a few specific questions about why you have come to the clinic and some background medical information that may be very useful in helping to identify the actual cause of the problem. Equally as important, you will be asked what you would like to achieve with regards to personal daily goals once your pain starts to subside. As well as the relevant chiropractic, neurological and orthopedic tests that he performs on each patient, the examination will also focus on a complete postural analysis from head to toe.

In the clinic, we use the “Posture Pro” digital system which analyses the patient’s spine and body in two dimensions, one from the front and  one from the side view. This helps to show any compensations or misalignment’s that may be occurring throughout the key areas of the body such as the hips/ pelvis, shoulders and upper and lower regions of the neck.

One of the reasons that we use this technology is that our body position is a reflection of the position of the spine, neck and pelvis thus if the spine is mal-positioned we will generally not function as well as we should do, due to joints being stiff and muscles being tight and achy. The test is quick and effective and is a very useful barometer for how someone’s posture presents before treatment begins. Later when imaging is repeated, it is taken again to report the positive progress being made.

In addition, we will assess the feet because our feet are the ‘foundations of our body’. Typically we look for over-pronation of the arches of the feet which will often lead to an an internal rotation of the lower limb leading to potential issues affecting the ankles, knees, hips and lower spine. Such problems can be rectified by the fitting of custom made insoles which are done in-house.

On occasions, you may be referred for further investigations, such as an x-ray or an MRI, but only if Dr Chris feels it may further assist in diagnosing the problem.
